Help & FAQ

Common questions about Guardyn anti-theft protection.

How do I set up Guardyn?

Install the app, grant core permissions (camera, location, notifications), and sign in with Google — your alert email is configured automatically. Choose a guard (Charger, Pocket, or Motion) and tap Arm. You can also enable Wrong-PIN Detection (Device Admin) anytime from the Guards tab.

Which guard should I use?

Charger Guard — when your phone is plugged in (café, airport). Pocket Guard — when carrying your phone in a pocket or bag. Motion Guard — 'don't touch my phone' protection when your phone is on a table or desk.

How fast does the siren activate?

Each guard has a customizable grace period. Pocket Guard defaults to 2 seconds, Motion Guard to 3 seconds, and Charger Guard to 5 seconds. You can adjust these in the Guards tab.

What happens when theft or a wrong PIN is detected?

The siren activates at max volume (for physical guards), and Guardyn captures a silent front-camera intruder photo to your local encrypted vault plus GPS coordinates (Free). With Pro, Guardyn captures dual front & back photos, 10s video, and ambient audio and relays everything to your Email, Telegram, Discord, Webhook, or MQTT channel within seconds.

How do I use remote commands?

Sign in at guardyn.tech with the same Google account. Click your device, then send commands like Front Camera, Back Camera, Video, Audio, Burst Capture, Locate, Remote Lock, or Siren.

Is my data stored in the cloud?

No. Guardyn uses a Zero Cloud Persistence model. Evidence is encrypted on your device (AES-256-GCM) and relayed to your email or Telegram via a transient function that discards data immediately after delivery.

What's the difference between Free and Pro?

Free includes all theft guards, max-volume siren, wrong-PIN detection, 1 silent front-camera intruder selfie saved to your local encrypted vault, and GPS email alerts. Pro adds dual front & back camera photos, video & audio evidence, instant media relay (Email, Telegram, Discord, Webhook, MQTT), remote commands via web console, burst capture mode, and Wear OS incident sync.

Do web passes renew automatically or how do I cancel?

Razorpay monthly and annual subscriptions can be set to cancel at the end of the current billing period from your Guardyn account. The 7-day and 30-day passes do not renew. Google Play subscriptions are managed in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Guardyn.

Does Guardyn drain my battery?

No. Guards only activate sensors when the screen is off and the system is armed. The app uses minimal resources when idle.

Does Guardyn detect SIM card changes?

Yes. When you grant the optional Phone State permission, Guardyn monitors all SIM slots for swaps and removals — a common first step in phone theft. If a thief ejects your SIM or inserts a new one, Guardyn instantly captures a front-camera photo, logs the GPS location, and sends you an alert email. Your SIM identity is stored only on your device and never sent to any server.

Can I use Guardyn without signing in?

Yes — guards, siren, and local vault work without sign-in. But email alerts and remote commands require Google Sign-In.

How do I delete my account?

Open the app → tap your profile icon → Delete Account & Data. Or visit guardyn.tech/account-deletion for instructions.
